FORMER international archer Fairuz Hanisah Che Ibrahim has been given the responsibility to initiate the Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS) alumni.
At the helm: Fairuz Hanisah has been tasked to head the alumni.
The first meeting will be held at the BJSS on Sunday at 9.30am. BJSS senior assistant Suhaimi Sun Abdullah said the school’s Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) were keen to start an association for former students.
“The PTA felt that former students of the school should return for a get-together and also be part of the school’s activities. The former students can meet the current students and motivate them to excel in studies as well as sports.
“We have nominated Fairuz to organise the first meeting,’’ said Suhaimi.
Fairuz, who had represented Malaysia in the several international competitions including the SEA Games and Asian Games, was a former student of BJSS.
Currently, she is a teacher and also archery coach at the BJSS.
Suhaimi: ‘It will be interesting as most of the former students are doing well.’
Fairuz said they had invited all former students for the meeting.
“Students who had studied at the BJSS from 1996 to 2009 are eligible to be members of the alumni. We have already sent out feelers to all the students. The response is encouraging,’’ said Fairuz.
A pro-tem committee will be formed.
Suhaimi said the committee would have to draw up their programmes.
“It will be interesting as most of the former students are doing well. They can get together regularly and contribute to the school in their own way,’’ added Suhaimi.
